When I turned into a podcaster
and why I'd love for you to listen to it
Hello dear readers,
First of all, an apology. I’ve neglected this newsletter for far too long but there has been a good reason. I started a podcast.
My goal this year was to push myself out of my comfort zone and try something new. So I launched a podcast with a good friend of mine, Venetia Cowie. Formerly my personal trainer, during my sessions we bonded over a shared love of reality TV, pop culture and entertainment news. So much so that when she went on a year-long maternity leave after having her third child, we continued the conversation with 10-minute long voice notes to each other. (Sometimes longer). Venetia joked that they were so long in fact, that we should start a podcast. And so we did.
I would love for you to give it a listen. It’s been very much a learning curve for both of us who, before starting this, had never edited or made a podcast before. We’re very much still learning but i’m really proud of this week’s episode of our second series. Yes, a second series. An achievement I never thought we’d get to.
As fellow freelancers, I know you understand that it can be hard to put yourself out there which is why I’m asking a favour. I’d love for your listens, your support and shares with family and friends. If you have an audience of your own, I’d love it if you could share this episode too. After our first series, we shared it amongst friends as we got to grips with our podcast style and ability to edit an episode a week amidst working for ourselves and looking after our children. But now, it’s time to really get it out there.
But aside from my pleas for your help, I hope you’ll enjoy it too. In this week’s episode, we discuss the toxic nature of certain reality TV shows, the politicisation of the genre, and how, in turn, this is drawing more audiences to more wholesome shows like Race Across The World and the Traitors. And you thought entertainment podcasts were just fluff! :)We also cover other entertainment news and the shows we can’t stop watching.
But In Reality is available to listen to on Spotify now. You can follow us on Instagram for show updates here too.
I’ll be back to all things The Freelance Parent as soon as I can.
Much love,
Cat x
